Camp lakeside near one of Alaska’s most stunning glaciers.
Experience America’s largest National Park from the wilderness of Nizina Lake in the Wrangell mountains- this place will take your breath away! From Anchorage, we drive 7 hours to McCarthy, where we meet our pilot. We fly into a remote area of the park & set up a base camp for 3 nights and 4 days.
Each morning we start the day off right with yoga & meditation before a nourishing breakfast. During the day, you’ll have the option to either hike from camp, paddle on the lake & explore the glacial ice…or relax and enjoy personal time at camp. How you spend the day is up to you.
This trip is the perfect blend of “choose your own adventure” or simply enjoying the quiet and stillness of our majestic surroundings. Some yogis may choose to relax & journal by the lake, watching the clouds go by while others choose the daily adventure option. We return back to camp for lunch & dinner each day.
After dinner we’ll have evening meditation & satsanga around the campfire. On the last day we fly back to McCarthy and make the journey back to Anchorage.

Day 1: August 5th
Depart Anchorage at 9am. The scenic 7 hour drive to McCarthy isn't your run-of-the-mill road trip. Expect awesome views of the Chugach, Talkeetna & Wrangell Mountains as we drive alongside massive rivers and inspiring mountains. We stop for lunch & a short hike in the Copper River Valley along the way before the infamous “McCarthy Road:” a historic 60 mile gravel road that was once responsible for transporting rail cargo to and from the area. Roadside wildlife is pretty common along the journey- bears, moose, beaver, eagles & lynx are frequently seen along the road!
Arrive McCarthy approx 6pm. Settle into Kennicott River Lodge & Hostel and have dinner. We enjoy our first night together at the lodge to get ready and prepare for an early morning flight into the backcountry the following morning. That evening we will have a short opening & intention setting ceremony before heading to bed.
Day 2: August 6th
After an early breakfast, we meet our pilot and get aquainted with the plane! We fly over one of the most glaciated mountain ranges in the world before landing nearby Nizina Lake, our home for the next 3 nights. After making lunch and setting up camp, we will enjoy our first lakeside wilderness yoga practice. We usually spend our first afternoon going for a short hike & exploring the Nizina river nearby.
Day 3-4: August 7-8th
Expect each day to involve at least one yoga & meditation practice. The beauty of our time out here is that we don’t need to be “rigid” with our schedule or adhere to an itinerary. Each day we see what the weather has in store for us, and often that guides when we practice yoga & where we go exploring. We will spend at least one day paddling & checking out the glacial lake features, and one day with a longer hiking option. Each evening we will enjoy dinner around a campfire before turning in.
Day 5: August 9th
After breakfast we pack up camp, say farewell to the mountains & await pickup from our pilot. We fly over the mountains and back to McCarthy. We journey back to Anchorage, taking time for lunch and a short stretch along the way.
